“NewLINE” grant contract has been signed

On 11 July, 2019 Latvia-Russia CBC Programme Managing Authority and NGO “Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov” signed the grant contract to implement the project “New Life of Old Parks: Efficient Management of Historical Nature Objects in LatRus Border Area” (NewLINE).

One of our most experienced partnership also includes Balvi Municipality from Latvia and Center for Curative Pedagogics & Differentiated Education from Pskov, with the total experience of partnership in various CBC projects of over 37 years!

Most project activities will be concentrated on sustainable renovation of green areas in CBC cities with over 0.2 mln residents:

  • improvement works in two parks:

Korytovo Forest Park in Pskov – 5 ha green zone renovated for at least 700-800 kids with severe disabilities and their families, 0.2 mln citizens of Pskov and over 0.1 mln tourists visiting Pskov;

Bear’s Garden Park in Balvi – 4 ha at the historical heart of Balvi renovated for 8000 city residents, over 0.5 mln residents of Eastern LV and 0.1 mln tourists travelling in/through Latgale;

  • soft activities to grant sustainability for the improved parks: 10 study trips to manor parks, training for park keepers, development of a visual guide book, CBC seminars, conference, festival and international school on manor park management;
  • visibility activities to attract locals and tourists: project website, social media accounts, leaflets and info letters and interactive map.

The project brings a handful of innovations to the Programme area: sustainable management of former manor parks and inclusiveness via barrier-free ‘universal design’ for parks. At the same time, NewLINE preserves continuity, consistency and multiplicity by using lessons and results of ENPI CBC FlagShip GreenMan project.

The total budget of the project is around 685 thousand EUR, including Programme co-financing amounting to almost 617 thousand EUR.
