Summary of the project
The European Commission has suspended the cooperation with the Russian Federation within this Programme and participation of Russian beneficiaries in project implementation is suspended as well.
Management & Urban Planning of Green City Areas for Sustainability in LV and RU Cross Border Cities (“Shaping cities”) project involves long-standing partners from cross-border twin cities – Rēzekne in Latvia and Pskov in Russia – to work on the revitalization of degraded urban areas.
Having built varying skills in tourism development and spatial planning, project partners are aiming to exchange experience and skills to give a new impetus to green city spaces through a number of activities:
The project will bring new approaches to green spaces support and development in the cities such as crowdsourcing and thus will benefit all inhabitants of Rēzekne, Pskov and surroundings numbering to 900,000 people along with over 500,000 tourists visiting these places annually.
“Shaping cities” project aims to give a new perspective to deprived green urban spaces by transforming them into sustainable and attractive areas for tourism and local economy development.
